#FIMAsiaSupermoto | Construction Work Underway for Malang Track

It won’t be long before Asia’s best riders gather once again to race in Round 2 of the FIM Asia Supermoto Championship 2016. While the riders are taking all the necessary steps to prepare for yet another intense supermoto battle, preparation works for the track have already begun outside of Kanjuruhan Stadium in Malang, Indonesia.

The track from the previous round in Newcastle, Australia proved to be a challenging one for many riders due to its significantly large dirt section. Riders who excel on off-road terrains undoubtedly had an advantage over the others. This time around, it’ll be the tarmac section where riders will be put to the test.

Spanning over 1.2km, this round’s track will be the longest one this championship has ever had to date. To even out the playing field from the previous round, the length of the dirt section has been reduced while the tarmac section has been designed to be much more demanding. While the Newcastle tarmac track had mostly straight roads with just a few chicane turns, the Malang track will be featuring plenty of turns. From tight turns, sweeping turns to sliding turns and even steel jump ramps, the tarmac track will have all the necessary ingredients to make a nail-biting experience for both riders and spectators. The off-road segment will still feature the standard tabletop, whoops and double jumps as well as berms.

Event spectators will receive a bonus treat over the weekend as a stunt area will be set up right next to the track to keep the crowd entertained between races. Professional stunt rider and 2015 ASEAN Stunt Day Freestyle Champion Wawan Tembong has been commissioned to perform throughout the weekend. The 28-year-old stunt rider from Central Java has been actively participating and winning freestyle competitions since 2008.

Don’t miss out on all the excitement this October 8 and 9. Come on over to Kanjuruhan Stadium and be part of Indonesia’s first ever international Supermoto event and Asia’s premium Supermoto racing championship!
