The Jr. NBA Malaysia 2015 presented by Dutch Lady Welcomed Over 1500 participants at its First Open Clinic
KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, April 19, 2015 – The Jr. NBA Malaysia Open Clinic held at Sekolah Wawasan in USJ today received overwhelming response with more than 1500 number of children in attendance.
The clinic; open to children aged five to fourteen was divided into two sessions and was led by Jr. NBA Malaysia Head Coach, Craig Brown. The program aims to expose children to the game and provide a platform for new and aspiring basketball players to learn new techniques. The three- hour session(s) saw the children being coached on the essentials of basketball such as passing, dribbling, shooting and footwork.
Players were also given an overview on the fundamentals of basketball and learnt the importance of the Jr. NBA core values of sportsmanship, teamwork, positive attitudes and respect (S.T.A.R).
This year’s program includes additional clinics leading up to the selection camp in May 30-31, where the top 40 boys and top 24 girls aged 10 to 14 will be chosen following a series of skills and character assessments to participate in the Jr. NBA National Training Camp in Kuala Lumpur on June 11-13. The National Training Camp, which will once again be attended by an NBA player or legend and feature NBA Cares community outreach, including a three-day intensive training schedule; culminating with the selection of 10 boys and four girls who will be named 2015 Jr. NBA Malaysia All-Stars.
